During your very first appointment at Tooth Savers we will introduce you to your dentist and your dental team. As we are a locally owned practice you can always be sure that any future treatment will be provided by a team you will already know and we hope over the years to build up an excellent working relationship with you and your family.
Our Medical History Form
When you first attend our dental practice we will need to know a bit about you. There is a medical history form that can be downloaded from our website or filled in when you get here. It’s important we know about any existing medical conditions as well as any medications you may be using at the moment as these could affect the way we approach your dental care.
What to Expect during Your First Examination
Your first appointment includes an extremely detailed examination of your mouth as we will want to assess your current dental health. Our dentist will gently check the condition of your teeth and gums for any signs of problems. We will need to take a full set of dental x-rays during your first appointment as this will give us a clear picture of your dental health so we can provide the most appropriate treatment or preventative dental care plan.

Oral Cancer Screenings
We also carry out regular screenings for oral cancer and this is a non-invasive examination of your oral tissues including the inside of your cheeks, your lips, the roof and floor of your mouth and your tongue. We are checking for any signs of lumps, bumps or white or red patches or patches that feel rough to the touch, as well as any sores spots that aren’t healing properly.
Once examination is completed, we will discuss anything we have found with you and this chat is also an opportunity for you to get to know us a bit better and ask any questions you may have about your dental health.
